William Joseph Campbell - Happy Eagle Boy

It is with sadness that we announce the passing of William Joseph Campbell on Friday, May 9, 2025 at the St. Boniface Hospital.
William was born on June 1, 1960 in Ste. Rose du Lac, MB to his parents Lawrence and Josephine Campbell. He received his education at Hillridge School and Ste. Rose Collegiate.
As a child, William enjoyed playing hockey, baseball, making forts and playing Cowboys and Indians with his siblings, cousins and friends. At an early age, William started trapping, fishing and hunting with his dad, uncles and cousins. At the age of 14, William made the decision to leave home to go to work to help his family. As a teenager, William learned how to play pool and enjoyed challenging his brothers. Once William became of age, he took his pool skills to the bars in the city where he began hustling At the age of 19, William met his wife Karen where they started their life together.
William worked all types of jobs from Gunnlaugson Spray Foam, many farms, CN Rail, Sheriff's Department, Portage Friendship Centre, Portage Taxi Driver, Women's Jail, O-Chi-Chak-Ko-Sipi Healing Lodge, Manitoba Justice & Corrections. His heart and passion was helping people as a Knowledge Keeper.
William was predeceased by his parents Lawrence and Josephine Campbell, his adopted parents Francis and Doris Baptiste, his siblings Richard, Elie, Clifford and Laverne, his grandparents Pat & Louisa Davis, Maglare Campbell, and Esther Mousseau, his nephews Cory Gartner, Gregory Gartner and niece Raven Fitzpatrick as well as several aunts and uncles.
William leaves to mourn his passing and cherish many wonderful memories; his wife Karen Hunter, his children; sons Wesley (Naomi), Mitchell, daughters Natasha (Matthew) and Renee (Carlos Jr) and his grandchildren Brooklyn, Harlem, Taylor, Loewen, Austyn, Sienna, Justyce, Daycen, Kailyn, Aria, Mia, Chloe, Blessing, Shanishia, Felicity, Sean and Neveah, his siblings Lucy (Kenneth), Harriet (Craig), Glen, Debra (Harold), Elizabeth (Steven), Patrick, Belinda (Dan), Maxine (Ernest), Burton, Jason (Cynthia), Jane Baptiste, Shirley (late Leo Beaulieu), Doris Baptiste Houle (Brian), Kenneth Baptiste, Pearl Baptiste Houle (Matthew), Charlene Baptiste, Kim Baptiste (Jeff), Courtney Baptiste (Kevin), late Bonnie Baptiste, late Arnold Baptiste, late Pauline Baptiste, late Johnny Baptiste, his godchildren Jessica Malcolm, Colton Campbell, Tyler Altenburgh along with numerous nieces, nephews and friends who loved him dearly.
A time of viewing for family and friends will be held on Friday, May 16th, 2025 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm from Sneath-Strilchuk's Ste. Rose Chapel, 604 1st Avenue SW, Ste. Rose du Lac.
Funeral Service for William will be held on Saturday, May 17th, 2025 at 2:00 pm in the Ebb and Flow First Nation Community Complex, Ebb and Flow First Nation. William will be brought home to the complex for 11:00 am on Saturday morning. Family and friends who wish to join the procession to the complex are asked to meet at the funeral home at 10:00 am on Saturday, May 17th, 2025. William requested that those wishing to share their stories at the service are welcome to do so as a way to encourage others on their journey.
Interment will take place in the Ebb and Flow Cemetery, Ebb and Flow First Nation.
