On Sunday, May 30th, 2021, Wilfred James Bodnariuk, loving husband and father of three children, passed away at the age of 77.
Wilfred was born on November 27th, 1943, to Mike and Sadie (Zetariuk) Bodnariuk on their homestead northwest of Inglis, MB. He took over the homestead from his father and farmed until he retired. In addition, he took up carpentry in his 30’s, and worked the odd winter away on power lines. On August 10th, 1968, he married Agnes Ellen Beilby. They raised two sons, Gerald and James, and one daughter, Sue Ellen.
Wilfred was an active member of the Inglis community and was on several different committees over the years. He enjoyed playing broomball, so much that he eventually coached the Inglis Wildcats. He had a passion for everything and anything fishing. He would take his family out on the boat in the summers, and in his later years he treated his grandchildren to ice fishing. He took on carpentry in the summers while his farm crops grew, which turned into a lifelong career followed by building sheds out of scrap as a hobby in his retirement. He was known for his quick wit, his helping hand, and how he took the time to visit with his friends and family. Also, his big nose.
Wilfred was preceded in death by his father, Mike; his mother, Sadie; his son, Gerald; and his daughter, Sue. He is survived by his wife, Agnes; his son, James; his brother, Jim; his sister, Doris; and his two grandchildren, Brody and Noah.
A Funeral Service was held for Wilfred Bodnariuk on Saturday, May 28, 2022 at 3:00 pm from Sneath Strilchuk Funeral Chapel, Roblin, MB. All were welcome to attend.
Should friends so desire, donations in memory of Wilfred may be made to Addictions Foundation of Manitoba - 510 Frederick Street, Brandon, MB R7A 6Z4.
