Wayne Thompson Obituary

It is with heartfelt sadness that the family of Wayne Richard Thompson announces his untimely passing on January 15, 2020 at the age of 60 years. Wayne was a son, brother, father, grandfather, uncle and friend to many. He was born on April 30, 1959 to Cecile and Roland Thompson, the second of six children. Wayne grew up on the family farm and after graduation worked for the Turtle River Water Shed for over a decade. In 1980 Wayne moved to his farm where he lived until his passing. Wayne began farming at a young age with his Dad and at the time of his death had farmed many decades with his brother Ken. Wayne married Edith Jacobs in 1981 and their son Gavin Matthew Wayne was born in 1987 and daughter Kelly Lynn was born in 1989.  Years later Wayne met Tammy Recknell and their son Layne Roland Glen was born in 2003.
Wayne’s passing will be mourned by his children Gavin (Rachel-Ann), Kelly (Leighton), and Layne. Wayne is survived by his loving Mum Cecile Thompson, sisters Roberta (Brad), Gwen (Chris), brothers Brian (Brenley), Ken (Jackie), and Chris (Mariluz). Wayne was a proud grandfather who loved his grandchildren dearly; Tristan, Archer, Kessandra and Maranda Thompson and Skyler Moroz. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Wayne will be missed by his auntie Sherry and numerous cousins, especially cousin Gord who was part of his daily life. Wayne was predeceased by his father Roland in 2001.
Wayne was an active member of the Ochre River community and started his day with coffee at the “No Frills Coffee Shop” catching up on the local daily news. He was an early member of the Ochre River Volunteer Fire Department. Wayne was an active member of the Ochre River Snowmobile Club and helped making trails, putting out markers, and helping with the annual snowmobile derby and races. He also enjoyed going out on his quad, hunting and in winter could be found patiently ice fishing. Wayne never missed a bonfire with Ken, Jackie and whichever family members who were home for a visit.
Wayne took pride in his farm, as well as his children and grandchildren. If you were ever looking for Wayne you would mostly find him at home, in the field or at the coffee shop visiting his many friends. Wayne was born and died a farmer; he passed away while feeding his cattle.
