It is with immense sorrow we announce the passing of Victoria Bilous. Victoria quietly left us on July 18, 2025 in Roblin, Manitoba. Victoria had been contending with some health ailments for the last few months and her struggle ended peacefully when her spirit moved on to other adventures.
Victoria Lyhkun was born on May 4, 1932 in Canora, Saskatchewan. She was the eldest of 5 children and had to take on a lot of responsibility by looking after her 3 younger brothers and 1 sister early in life. At the young of age of 17, in June of 1949, she married Paul Bilous and they lived in Canora, Saskatchewan until 1959 when they bought a farm in Roblin, Manitoba.
She was a devoted wife to Paul Bilous for 73 years and a loving, self-sacrificing mother to her five children: Marlene, Randy, Marianne, Michelle and Rick. During this time Victoria worked tirelessly on the family farm by milking cows, having a poultry operation, managing three gardens and even finding time to help Dad by hauling bales. Our Mother was a true pioneer and was the best farm hand there ever was.
She was a cherished grandmother to seven grandchildren: Charmaine and Scott Morash, Samantha and Taylor Hanson and Rayna, Brennah and Aubrey Bilous. Mom always lit up whenever her grandchildren called or visited and these were some of her happiest moments.
Victoria was known for her passion for gardening, and her love of sewing and quilting. She will always be remembered for her kind and welcoming nature.
She was an active member of the local Catholic church right up until her passing.
The family is very grateful for her close friend, Yvette Toews, who was able to assist her in many ways when the family couldn’t. We will never forget the wonderful care she received in both Crocus Court and the Hospital over the last few years and the close relationship she had with Health Care Aide Tina-Marie. Thanks to all the nurses and aides that made our Mother’s final home a warm and caring place.
Victoria’s love and kindness will forever be remembered by all who knew her. She is survived by her daughter Marlene, son Randy, daughter Marianne (Jerry Morash), daughter Michelle ( Randy Hanson) and son Rick (Karla Verhelst) along with 7 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
A Funeral Liturgy was celebrated by Rev. Fr. Ivan Hnativ for Victoria on Monday, August 11, 2025 at 11:00 am at Holy Redeemer Ukrainian Catholic Church in Roblin.
Interment followed in the Roblin Catholic Cemetery.
