Born Petlura, Manitoba February 22, 1956
Died May 15th, 2020 at his residence Dauphin, Manitoba

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Victor(Vic) James Fron, at the age of 64 years, on Friday May 15th, 2020, at his residence.
Vic was predeceased by his Father Henry Fron, on the 20th of August 1997 and his mother Shirley Ann Fron, on the 12th of January 2002.
Vic was the only child and grew up with his parents who ran the country store for many years in Petlura, Manitoba.
The family moved to Dauphin, Manitoba, where Vic completed his high school education and had taken courses in culinary cooking, which he enjoyed doing throughout his adult life.
He went on to work at Sneath Strilchuk Funeral Home and became a Mortician, which he took great pride in, caring about the families and their loses.
At the age of 23 years of age he joined the Dauphin Fire Department, in October 1979 and also joined the Dauphin Volunteer Ambulance Service.  Both of these endeavors resonated with him, as he truly was one who wanted to make a difference and be involved in his Community.
He worked his way up in the ranks of the Fire Department and became the Fire Chief from 2007 - 2011 when he departed the Fire Department after 31 years 4 months of service, in that time he had been named Fire Fighter of the year in 2000.
He travelled in the world and one of his greatest trips was to Phoenix Arizona, where he spent some time with their Fire Department, learning more information to assist him in his own endeavors and had the photos framed of the event, which he was proud of.
He took a job with the Manitoba Government in the Department of Driver and Vehicle Licensing from 2001 - 2007.
Vic had many interests and introduced many of the Community to them as well and became a mentor to friends, family and strangers a like.
He was a serious 10 pin bowler and ran the men’s league at the Parkland Bowling alley from 1983 - 1997, he loved the sport so much that he finally purchased the bowling alley with his parents in 1986 until he sold it.  Many who did not know 10 pin, somehow were recruited to the sport and given guidance and tips over the years .
He travelled to numerous tournaments throughout Canada and the United States winning awards and meeting some of the greatest 10 pin bowlers in the sport.  While still encouraging others and bringing them with him to also experience this level of bowling.
Vic supported the baseball groups in the Parkland region, Dauphin Minor, Parkland and the Dauphin Brewers, he took more courses and became one of the lead umpires for the area and was well known and respected for his work.
When he had spare time, he was an avid fisherman and over his life time, has taken hundreds of individuals to the Narrows, Lake of the Prairies and his favorite location Water Hen.  He was in his element, with his tried and tested lures and just knowing where to go, while smoking a cigar for good luck and discussing the World as he saw things.  He was always more excited to see some one else get a Master Angler, as he knew how much it meant to that person.
He was an individual with a large heart he truly cared for his Community, his family and friends, he could be loud at times and opinionated, but he truly listened to others and always had the best of intentions.
He always had friends around him in early days, with many outings for fishing, bowling and just having coffee to talk and friendship.
He was a good son, a true friend and a Community Leader who would go above and beyond with no expectations of recognition, it was his nature.  Remember his legacy the good times, the memories of things that were done.
In lieu of flowers a trust fund is held at Johnson & Company in Dauphin, Manitoba or donations to a charity of your choice.
