Valerie Marie Rank

Valerie Rank (née Duruisseau) of Ste. Rose du Lac, Manitoba, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, at Dauphin Regional Hospital on May 3, 2026, at the age of 67.

Born on November 6, 1958, in Ste. Rose du Lac, Valerie was one of eight children of Cecile (Leclerc) and Elie Duruisseau and was raised in Laurier, Manitoba, where life on the family farm gave her many treasured memories. On October 11, 1980, she married Alden Rank, and together they built a quiet and enduring life rooted in love, family, and faith.

Valerie was predeceased by her parents, Cecile and Elie Duruisseau; her in-laws, Doris (Dumas) and Albert Fontaine; her brother Ronald Duruisseau; and her sister Lucille (Duruisseau) Corbel. She is lovingly remembered by her husband, Alden; her children, Waylon (Joanna Rusnak) Rank and Nicole (Tarik) Haroon; her cherished grandchildren, Callum, Emmylou, Eloise, Mila, and Zara; her siblings Lionel (Melodie) Duruisseau, Aline Piercey, Eliane (Barry) Talpash, Della (Reuben) Weaver, and Noel (Terri) Duruisseau; and many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.

Family was at the centre of Valerie’s life, and her faith guided the way she cared for others. She worked for 22 years as a dedicated mental health proctor and was known for her kindness, warmth, strength, and generosity. She found great joy in her church, her community, and especially in being a grandmother. Her grandchildren were the light of her life, and she delighted in sharing simple, joyful moments with them.

Valerie will be remembered for her generous spirit, unwavering faith, and deep love for her family. Her memory will be cherished by all who knew and loved her.

A Celebration of Life for Valerie will be held on Saturday, August 29, 2026, at 10 am in the Grace Baptist Church near Ochre River, Manitoba.

Flowers are gratefully declined. In honour of Valerie, those who wish may plant a tree or donate to the Canadian Cancer Society in support of breast cancer research.
