Tony Stratuliak

Peacefully on July 16, 2020, Tony Stratuliak passed away at the Gilbert Plains Personal Care Home at the age of 91 years.

Tony was born on the family farm in Ethelbert, MB in 1929 to John and Kataryna Stratuliak.

In 1950, Tony was united in marriage to Mary Burchuk of Weiden, MB.  Together they farmed in the Ethelbert district.  They were married over 60 years.  After Mary passed away in 2011, Tony continued to farm with his son Wayne.  In 2017 due to declining health Tony moved to the Gilbert Plains Personal Care Home.

Tony was a farmer and carpenter.  He was active in the Ethelbert Community serving on the executive in the curling and skating rinks.  He was a director at Ethelbert Credit Union and board member for Manitoba Pool Elevators and active member with the local Farmer's Union organization.  He was vice president, president and elder for approximately 40 years with the Mink Creek Holy Trinity Parish.  Tony was always there for his family and neighbors whenever they required help.

Tony was predeceased by his wife Mary; parents John and Kataryna; two siblings in infancy; brothers Mike (Margaret), Fred (Anne), Edward; sister Victoria (Matt) Burdeny; great-grandchild Coby, son-in-law Greg; in-laws Ron Husak, Nick and Minnie Burchuk, Ursula Burchuk, Marian Burchuk, Alex Burchuk, Johnny Kolochuk.

Tony is survived by sons Bill (Bernice), Wayne; daughters Elsie (Jim) and Sonia; brothers Nick (Olga), Steve (Helen); sister Adeline Husak; sister-in-law and special friend Helen J. Stratuliak; five grandchildren Jody (Sheila), Michelle, Jason (Marie), Krissy, Curtis (Kelly); and six great-grandchildren Mandy-Jo, Kaila, Colby, Liam, Tylee, Austin.

Also surviving are sisters-in-law, Jean (Boris) Prokopowich, Vicki (Lawrence) Kostiuk, Olga Kolochuk; brothers-in-law Bill Burchuk, Peter (Gertie) Burchuk, Mike Burchuk, Wally (Jean) Burchuk.  There are numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members

The family would like to thank everyone at the Gilbert Plains Personal Care Home for their care and compassion of our dad these last few years.

Prayers were offered on Wednesday, July 29, 2020 at 7:00 pm from Sneath-Strilchuk Family Care Centre in Dauphin, MB.

Funeral Liturgy was held on Thursday, July 30, 2020 at 10:00 am from Sts. Peter & Paul Ukrainian Catholic Church in Ethelbert, MB with Rev Father Yaroslav Strukhlyak officiating.  Interment followed in Sts. Peter & Paul Ukrainian Catholic Cemetery in Ethelbert, MB.  Pallbearers were Jody Stratuliak, Jason Stratuliak, Larry Stratuliak, Nester Stratuliak, Leonard Stratuliak, Roger Stratuliak.
