Theressa "Gail" Topham Obituary

It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of Gail Topham of Grandview, Manitoba.  Gail was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister,  aunt, and friend. She left this world after a long hard fought battle with cancer on Sunday, July 11, 2021 at the Grandview Hospital at the age of 76.

She was born in Gilbert Plains to Clayton and Doreen Stoughton on May 26, 1945. Growing up on the family farm she enjoyed raising heavy and light horses, helping her dad with daily chores, and participating in 4-H. After high school she attended school to become an administrative assistant and was employed by Manitoba Agriculture in Dauphin.

Gail met Jack in 1964 at the Swan River Fair where they were showing horses and cattle. They were married on August 20, 1966. They spent one year in Calgary and returned to the Duck Mountain district of Grandview to farm and raise their family of two sons Kent and Gary. Gail loved breeding Arabian horses and Blue Heelers. Jack and Gail spent many years showing and breeding Shorthorn and Maine Anjou cattle. She was acknowledged by the Canadian Maine Anjou Association for producing the first percentage Maine Anjou calf through AI in Canada.

They moved to town in the fall of 1999. Gail became involved with various groups close to her heart. She especially loved the outings with her crazy and fun Red Hat ladies; and her Cancer Support group meant the world to her. She loved to travel to new places and the opportunity to see the United Kingdom was a trip of a lifetime.

Gail will always be remembered for her generosity and kindness to others and her love for animals. She had a great passion for gardening and creating beautiful quilts which she gifted to family. Her greatest pleasure was spending time with her grand children and was extremely proud of all of their accomplishments.

Gail is survived by her loving husband Jack of 54 years; son Kent (Leanne) grandchildren Kendra and Taron, son Gary (Corinne) grandchildren Linnae, Rayna and Cole; sister Barb (Ron) Kadyschuk; sister in laws
Marla Palmer, Wendy (Bill) O’Sullivan, Marg Topham; uncle but more like a brother Bill (Sonya) Stoughton and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

At Gail’s request cremation has take place and a private family graveside service was held on Friday, July 16 at 2:00 PM at the Grandview Memorial Gardens Columbarium  with Rev Karen Kuzek officiating.
