Steve Yury of Dauphin, MB passed away on November 8, 2023 at the age of 85.
Steve was born on January 11, 1938 at Sifton, MB to John and Olga (nee Matvieshen) Yury.
He received his education at Okraina School and some at Sifton School. Also in his later years, he took his up-grading at Dauphin (DCC).
He farmed in Sifton then moved to Thompson, MB where he worked as a miner for Inco. Then he tried his hand at a Café business in Ethelbert, MB. After that he did mostly trucking, Manco Dairies in Dauphin, Western Bakery Inn and hauling mail for an individual out of Dauphin. While in Thompson, Steve was involved with the Ukrainian Greek Orthodox congregation (being on the board). Also he was involved with the Thompson Junior Hockey (Nickel Kings) and chairperson of the Nickle-Lite Showcase.
Steve loved to play his guitar and sing, yodel and dance. He played with various bands in the nineties and until he was able to volunteer his time, he played at the care homes in Roblin, Benito, Winnipegosis and Dauphin. He also was a Ukrainian Festival Idol winner and made a CD.
He was predeceased by his parents, father John Yury and mother Olga. Surviving is his ex-wife Sonja; his stepdaughter Colleen; his daughter Myrna; his sons Calvin and Sheldon; his sister Stella; his brother Zane; his half-brothers, Ernie and Elmer; and his cousins, nieces and nephews.
Funeral Service was held on Thursday, November 16, 2023 at 10:00 am from Sneath-Strilchuk Family Care Centre in Dauphin, MB with Rev. Father Brent Kuzyk officiating.

Interment followed in Sifton Holy Ascension Orthodox Monastery Cemetery in Sifton, MB.
Pallbearers were Sheldon Yury, Calvin Yury, James Katchur, Zane Yury, Elmer Kuba, Jared Rudkevich.
