Sophie Cayer

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Sophie Nelly Cayer (Tanasichuk/Didychuk) on April 23, 2025, of Dauphin, Manitoba. Sophie was born on November 18, 1942 in Alberta. She passed away suddenly from a major heart attack, leaving behind a legacy of love, kindness, and strength that will never be forgotten.

Sophie lived her life with open arms, always treating everyone like family. Family was her top priority. She was a loving wife, the best mother, an adoring grandmother and always there for those in need. Her passion for healthcare led her to work in the field for many years, where she touched the lives of countless individuals with her compassion and dedication. Sophie's caring nature and strong will inspired those around her, leaving a lasting impact on all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Sophie had a deep love for animals, especially her show dogs. She enjoyed spending time in her flower gardens, tending to her beautiful blooms with a smile on her face. She cherished moments spent at the lake with family and friends, and her presence at the community coffee shop will be deeply missed, where she was known for her warm smile, jokes, and light hearted teasing.

In addition to her husband Narcisse of 65 years, Sophie is survived by her sons Deon (Lori) and LeVern; stepson Ron; grandchildren Nichole (Lance), Cody, Colton (Jaclyn), Jessica, Madison, Trent, Dustin (Malayna); sister Valerie; brothers Garry and Johny along with numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.

She was predeceased by her parents and her loving daughter Monique.

A celebration of Sophie's life was held on Friday, July 18, 2025 at 2:00 pm from the Sneath-Strilchuk Family Care Centre, where her memory was honored and cherished by all who knew and loved her. Sophie will be deeply missed but always remembered as a woman who brought joy, love, and laughter to all who had the pleasure of knowing her. Rest in peace, dear Sophie.
