Simone (Therrien) Bouchard

Simone Marie Bouchard (Therrien) passed away peacefully in her sleep on September 14th, 2022 at St Paul’s Personal Care Home in Dauphin, MB at the age of 99. 

She was born on July 19th, 1923 in Ste Amelie, MB to Agatha McDougall and Anthime Therrien.  She married Wilfred Bouchard on February 16th, 1944.  She raised their nine children on their farm in Laurier, MB. They moved to Ste Rose du Lac, MB in 1976 and retired at Dauphin Beach.  In 1997, she moved to Dauphin. 

She is survived by eight children; Lilliane (children Christian, Mona), Andre (Darlene, children Monique, Gerald, Del, Amber), Lorraine (children Candace, Sean, Cam), Albert, Irene  (Frank, children David, Laurie, Brian, Kevin), Leonie (Devin, children Nicole, Melanie, Kerry), Diane, Carol (Ross, children John, Lisa), thirty-eight great grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren and by siblings, Lucille Lemieux, Roger (Rita), Raymond (Alice), Larry (Barbara) and Leo (Doris) and by many in-laws, nieces and nephews. 

Simone was predeceased by her husband Wilfred, sons Joseph and George, grandsons Jason and Rob, son-in-law Neil and siblings Ernest and Lucien.

Mom loved life. She loved to laugh and tell jokes.  She attended school in Ste Amelie up to grade eight.  She loved to read, play cards, crib and scrabble with friends. She attended every dance she possibly could and learned to line dance.  Mom played baseball, curled and enjoyed golfing when living at the lake in Dauphin Beach.  She was a great gardener, cook and baker and loved to have family and friends over, preparing a lovely meal.   She belonged to a bowling league and the Catholic Women’s League for many years.  She liked to knit, needlepoint, make quilts, paper tole and ceramics which she often gifted to loved ones.

The family would like to thank Lilliane, Irene and Frank and the staff at St Paul’s Personal Care Home for their loving care and support for Mom. 

A Funeral Mass will be held for Simone on Thursday, September 29, 2022 at 11:00 am from the St. Viator's Roman Catholic Church in Dauphin with Rev. Michel Nault officiating.  

Recitation of the Rosary will be held prior to mass at 10:30 am.
