It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our dear brother, uncle and friend Sidney Donald Brown on October 4, 2025 at the McCreary Personal Care Home with family by his side. Donald was born on September 27,1938 to Ed and Emily Brown, on the family farm in Bluff Creek, Manitoba. He was the second eldest of five children.
Even though Donald was a very private man, everyone knew who Donnie Brown was. In his early years he worked at Campbell Soup in Portage la Prairie, but he missed the farm too much to stay away. He moved back home to continue his farming career with his parents and brothers. Donnie was an outdoors man, he enjoyed hunting and fishing. You would see him and his mom in the fall preparing nets for the winter to ice fish. In the summer he would be tinkering on farm equipment trying to fix the broken part (even if he didn’t know how). The nieces and nephews always loved visiting their uncle Donnie, he was always a jokester playing little games and jokes on them. When the kids weren’t around, you could find him watching wrestling on the TV trying to perform the moves they were doing. Later in life he enjoyed watching other sports like baseball, football and hockey.
Donnie stayed on the farm most of his life to when he moved to Alonsa and then to the McCreary Care home due to a deterioration in health. At the home he enjoyed the little visits from the day care children and playing bingo, he did win a few treats there. They will miss him for sure.
Sidney was predeceased by his parents Ed and Emily Brown, his brothers Albert Brown, sister in law Katherine, brother in law Jack Furrie along with their son Billy Brown, his brother Cyril Brown and his son Brad Brown, his sister Janet Eyolfson and her children Arlene Armstrong and George Dubois, and his brother Edward Brown and his daughter Sharon Bennett along with many uncles, aunts, and cousins. He is survived by his brother in law Earl Eyolfson and sister in laws Elaine Brown and Marjorie Brown and many nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.
The family would like to thank the McCreary Personal Care Home for their loving care to Donnie and the Sneath-Strilchuk Funeral Home in McCreary for looking after the arrangements.
