Shirley Kendzierski Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that the family of Shirley Anne Kendzierski announce her passing in the early morning of February 16, 2026, at the Winnipegosis Health Centre.

Born on January 1, 1957, at the Winnipegosis Hospital to Caroline (Bobinski) and Paul Shewchuk, Shirley was the cherished middle child and only daughter among four brothers - Ron, Wayne, Glenn and Frank.

Shirley’s formal education began at Spence Lake school, to which she often traveled by horse and cart or toboggan, before continuing on to Winnipegosis, where she graduated Grade 12 from the Winnipegosis Collegiate Institute. During her youth, she lived on the farm with her family, and enjoyed many activities including horseback riding and various sports.

On September 4, 1976, Shirley married her husband of nearly 50 years, Leonard Kendzierski, and together they moved throughout Manitoba, ultimately settling in Ste. Rose du Lac where they raised their three children, Danna, Michael and Leah. During this time Shirley built a distinguished career with the Addictions Foundation of Manitoba, rising to the role of Director before her retirement in 2013. In 2007, she and Leonard fulfilled their dream of building a home on Lake Manitoba, where Shirley spent her remaining years enjoying the lake, gardening, and cherishing time with her grandchildren.

Shirley is survived by her loving husband, Leonard Kendzierski; daughter Danna Kendzierski; son Michael (Tara) Kendzierski; daughter Leah Kendzierski; three grandchildren, Kassyn, Calder, and Kolbie Kendzierski; brothers Ron (Nola) Shewchuk, Wayne Shewchuk, Glenn (Doreen) Shewchuk and Frank (Lana) Shewchuk; mother-in-law Norma Kendzierski; and sisters-in-law Karen (Barry) Paradis and Debbie Murray. She also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members and cherished friends.

Shirley was predeceased by her parents Caroline (Bobinski) and Paul Shewchuk; infant brother Richard Shewchuk; father-in-law Mike Kendzierski; sister-in-law Denise Shewchuk; and brother-in-law Norman Murray.
