Sandra Gail Deslauriers

It is with deep sadness that the family of Sandra Gail Deslauriers (née Burr) announces her peaceful passing on August 2, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family after a courageous battle with cancer.

Sandra was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She dedicated many years of her life to caring for others as a Licensed Practical Nurse, touching countless lives with her kindness, empathy, and gentle spirit. Even after retiring from nursing, the friendships she built throughout her career remained an important part of her life. She looked forward to the regular monthly dinners with her fellow LPN colleagues, sharing stories, laughter, and the lasting bonds they had formed through years of caring for others.

Sandra was proud to be a member of the LPN Honour Guard, joining her fellow nurses in paying tribute to colleagues who had passed before her. It was one of the many ways she continued to honour the nursing profession and the friendships she cherished throughout her life. She will be remembered not only for her strength and courage, but for the kindness, warmth, generosity, and selfless care she shared so freely with everyone she met.

Sandra is now reunited with her beloved husband, Roger, the love of her life, after 23 years apart. Their love and devotion to one another remained steadfast through the years, and her family finds comfort in knowing they are together once again. She was predeceased by her daughter, Shelley; her parents, Charles and Giselle Burr; her brother, Douglas; and her special sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Marie Paul and Lionel.

She leaves to mourn her children, Darrel (Tammy), Tracey, Jason (Brittany), and Shauna; her grandchildren Tammy, Krystle (Chris), Cody, Hailey (Josh), Kiera (Dalton), Lionel (Aron), Brian (Pam), Jacqueline (Robert), Jordan, Fallon (Charlie), Alex (Ranae), Ryki (Forouzan), Craig, Derek, and Ryan (Angel); her great-grandchildren Enzo, Eloize, Benji, Addy, Josie, Arthur, Clairette, Freya, Errai, Daimon, Annabelle, Seraphina, Millie, Adeline, Nevaeh, Deacon, Myra, Jase, Riley, Victoria, Enzo, and Declan; her sisters-in-law Antoinette Meggison and Jean Burr; her special cousins Marge, Harvey, and John; and her faithful companion, Cricket, whose unconditional love and faithful companionship brought her great comfort, joy, and happiness throughout the years. She also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, extended family members, dear friends, and all whose lives she touched.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to Dr. Mathison, Dr. Blais, Dr. Shokunbi, CancerCare Manitoba, Home Care, the Palliative Care Team, and the staff of Ste. Rose General Hospital for their exceptional care, kindness, and support.

In keeping with Sandra's wishes, cremation has taken place. A private family interment will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family invites those who wish to honour Sandra's memory to consider making a donation to CancerCare Manitoba or, in her spirit of kindness and generosity, to lend a helping hand to someone in their own community through an act of kindness, a gift of time, or a helping hand. Sandra believed in caring for others and quietly gave of herself throughout her life. The family hopes her legacy of caring will continue through the kindness shown to others.
