*SERVICE CHANGES Elsie Buller Obituary

*Due to flooding and difficulties with travel, the memorial service for Elsie will be held at 2:00 pm on Sunday, July 5, 2026 at the Golden Frienship Centre in Niverville, MB.  Another service and interment will be announced and held at a later date in Winnipegosis.

Elsie Buller (born Elsa Janzen) was born on September 15, 1934, to Maria and Cornelius Janzen in the Rural Municipality of Mossey River, Manitoba. As the oldest of six children, she learned the value of hard work early on the family farm—milking cows, feeding chickens, and helping with childcare both at home and for neighbouring families. Over the years, she honed her cooking skills by preparing meals for large groups, a talent for which she was well known throughout her life.

She met her husband, Henry Buller, while he was working for her father. They married on August 26, 1956, at Nordheim Mennonite Church and raised their seven children on the family farm near Fork River. Henry and Elsie eventually retired to Dauphin, where they lived until after Henry’s passing. Elsie then moved first to Winnipeg, and later to Niverville, to be closer to family. She cherished many large family gatherings and, even in her later years, was filled with joy whenever she saw her great-grandchildren in person or via FaceTime.

Throughout her life, Elsie enjoyed all sorts of creative pursuits, including sewing, crafting, painting, and crocheting. She loved reading, gardening (though her children often did not share that passion!), and watching sunsets, always marveling at the beauty of God’s creation.

She passed away peacefully at the age of 91 at the HSC in Winnipeg, surrounded by her family. Elsie was a true prayer warrior who loved to share the gospel and will always be remembered for sharing God’s love with everyone she met.

Welcoming her to heaven are her husband, Henry; her beloved children, Gordon and Marjorie; son-in-law, Richard; her parents; and several siblings and in-laws. She is survived by her children, Kathy (Dave), Gerald (Iris), Melinda, Marian (Gerald), and Irma (Russel); daughter-in-law, Jill; 10 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at the Heritage Life Personal Care Home that made it her home for the last 6 years, and at the Health Science Centre for their compassion and caring.

In lieu of flowers, if friends and family should so desire, donations in memory of Elsie Buller can be made to Mennonite Central Committee, her home church Nordheim Mennonite, or a charity of your choice.
