Mom was born in Birch River MB to Charles (Bud) Denby and Yvonne, and shortly after

they moved to Winnipegosis where she grew up  with her two brothers and many family

members. Mom meet dad in Winnipegosis and in 1959 moved to Churchill. On April 28, 1960

Mom and Dad were married  and we four kids followed. In the fall of  1972 a new adventure

began as we packed up and moved to Leaf Rapids, where they stayed until Dad retired. And

then after several moves Mom & Dad came back to Winnipegosis.

Mom was a devout Catholic and volunteered countless hours for the church. Mom was also very

community minded and worked tirelessly for the Seniors Center and  many other causes and could

always be counted on to lend a hand when asked or needed.

Mom also had a love of music, which was a strong bond that she and Dad shared. One of

Mom’s favorites and Dad’s was a hymn titled, Only A  Shadow. There were many, many band

rehearsals  in our home in Churchill and many times Mom could be heard singing along.

Mom would say to Dad, “Ed pick up the guitar so we can sing “ which Dad would always oblige.

Mom and Dad loved travelling, going to rodeos, fishing, and spending time with friends & family.

Mom also loved to laugh, she enjoyed humour and had a slightly mischievous side & no-one

was immune to it not even her grandchildren. But to be fair they were fast learners, and they repaid

and they give as good as they got.  Like the time her grandson Jeremy decided that he needed his

his Oma to experience his driving prowess by fishtailing through town and then doing a fishtail

parking manoeuvre. When we stopped and Mom gathered herself, she turned to Jeremy and

asked “Jeremy why did you do that to Oma”, his answer “I needed to park somewhere Oma”.

All Mom could do was smile & laugh, it was a such a funny and personal moment as well.
