Ruth Kristinnson Obituary

It is with sad hearts that the family of Ruth Steinunn Kristinnson, age 66, announces her passing on Thursday, November 28, 2019.

Ruth was born April 20, 1953 to Sigfuss and Margaret Kristinnsosn in Arborg, MB.  She spent her youth in Arborg, alongside her siblings, Linda, Gerald and Eric.  In 1970 she married David Gudbjartson, and after a brief time in Riverton, and Stonewall, they settled in Dauphin in 1972 where their children Chad and Leah were raised.  With the end of her marriage to David, Ruth provided and cared for her children, instilling in them a love of family, friends and a strong work ethic.  Later on she moved with her children to Winnipeg where she went to Red River College, taking Business Admin.  2 years later she moved back to Dauphin where she was a dedicated worker until her retirement from City Hall.In 2002 she met Terry D’Aoust and they were married in 2004.  Ruth spent the remainder of her life with Terry, travelling to destinations including Hawaii, California and most recently a cruise to Alaska.  Their time together was spent camping, going on casino trips and attending auctions, searching for treasures for her collections.

Ruth’s door was always open to everyone.  She welcomed anyone in whether it be for a place to stay, a laugh,or  a game of cards.  The coffee was always on usually with a tasty snack beside it.  Ruth loved nature, and had a soft spot for animals.  She loved to watch the birds out her window.   She loved all music, especially Adam Lambert with Queen.  She was a proud mother and Amma and often spoiled family with their favorite treats.  Ruth was a fighter until the end and will be remembered for her generosity, strength, determination and love.

Left to cherish her memory are her husband Terry, Ruth’s son Chad (Kamara) Gudbjartson, and their children Emily, and Lars, daughter Leah(Kelly) Gudbjartson and their children Jesse, Ben and Ashley, along with Terry’s son Ron (Kim) D’Aoust, their children Vanessa(Cory) and Jessica, daughter Tami(Terry) Paskaruk, and their children Jenna, Matthew(Kylie), and Brayden.  Also left are Ruth’s siblings, and many family and friends.

The family would like to thank Dr. McMullen, and all the nurses and staff at Dauphin General Hospital for the love and care of Ruth in her final weeks.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to CancerCare Manitoba and the Parkland Humane Society.
