Ruth Edwards of Dauphin, MB passed away on November 18, 2025 at the age of 96 years.
Mom was born on January 13, 1929, in the Municipality of Strathclair. She lived during times of hardship which is why she didn’t like to waste anything. She married Henry Edwards and raised their three children on the family farm. Those were the days when people always got together and played cards and had coffee or a meal. There was only a radio, no TV or cell phone like today.
Mom worked various jobs once the children were old enough. She worked her first job a waitress at the coffee shop in the old curling rink. After that she worked at Robson’s Drug Store, Stitt’s Drug Store and the Fashion Shoppe and finally as a house mother at McKay’s Residential School.
After retirement Mom and Dad followed the horse racing circuit in the motor home. They travelled all over with trips to Hawaii, Cuba, Mexico and a motor home trip to Alaska with her sister and brother-in-law. After Dad passed away, she lived in her house for a couple of years and then moved into Mountain View Villa where she lived until she was unable to look after herself. In May of 2024 she moved into the Dauphin Personal Care Home where she lived until her passing.
She was predeceased by her husband Henry; daughter Diane and all her siblings.
She is survived by son Barry and daughter-in-law Mary; son Murry; grandsons Marc (Debbie), Warren (Alison), Travis, Kevin (Stephanie), Todd (Michelle) and all her great grandchildren.
The family will celebrate Ruth's life privately.
