Russell Stadnyk Obituary

Russell Michael Stadnyk suddenly passed away on January 17, 2021 at his home in Petlura, MB.

Russell is survived by his siblings, two sisters, Sylvia (Douglas) Mykolaishyn, Joyce Stadnyk both of Dauphin; two brothers John (Lucy) Stadynk of Shortdale, Willie Stadnyk of Petlura; sister-in-law Janice Stadnyk of Ashville; nephews Milton and Taras Mykolaishyn, Garry and Ivan Stadnyk, Michael (Jean) Stadnyk, Colten Stadnyk; nieces Elizabeth (Conway) Nernberg, Cassidy (Nathan) Stadnyk, Jordana Stadnyk; great nephews Stratten, Thor and Drake Nernberg, Austin Stadnyk; great nieces Haylee and Mirayla Stadnyk; also two god-children Michael and Colten Stadnyk; one aunt Sylvia Plawicki of Winnipeg, MB. There are numerous cousins and extended relatives.

Russell was predeceased by his parents William (2007) and Mary (2014) Stadnyk; brother Waldymir (2019) Stadnyk; nephew Matthew (1995) Stadnyk; great niece Kayln (2019) Stadnyk.

Russell was born in the Gilbert Plains Hospital on September 20, 1952 to parents William and Mary (Semchych) Stadnyk.  Russell grew up on the family farm at Petlura.  He attended Pozir School, later high school at Grandview, MB.  While going to school he farmed with his late father.  As years ahead brother Willie grew up and joined them, Colten grew up and joined farming with Russell and Willie.  Farming was his passion.  Russell was a member of the Holy Ghost Ukrainian Orthodox Church of Petlura,  also was a treasurer and elder of the church.  He was vice president of the Roblin District Church committee, was a treasurer for the Pozir School Reunion which was held in 1998.  When help was needed at church, hall or cemetery he was always there.  Russell was a very good cook which will be missed.  The door to his house was always open to family and friends.  Russell will be missed by his family very dearly.

Funeral Service was held on Saturday, January 30, 2021 at 2:00 pm from Holy Ghost Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Petlura, MB with Rev. Father Brent Kuzyk officiating.  Interment followed in Holy Ghost Ukrainian Orthodox Cemetery  in Petlura, MB.  Pallbearers were John Stadnyk, Willie Stadnyk, Milton Mykolaishyn, Ivan Stadnyk, Michael Stadnyk, Colton Stadnyk.

Should friends so desire, donations in memory of Russell may be made to the Holy Ghost Ukrainian Orthodox Cemetery Fund.
