Russell Huta Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Russell Peter Huta of Roblin Manitoba. Russell passed away suddenly on October 7, 2025, at the age of 79.
Russell was born on November 10,1945 in Shell River municipality to Tony and Mary Huta.  He grew up on the family farm in Deepdale Manitoba with his three brothers and sisters: Victoria, Rose and Victor. He attended Goose Lake High school in Roblin Manitoba, then graduated from a Vocational Mechanic Training School in Edmonton Alberta.  He married his wife Valerie on November 16, 1968, and had three children together: Kevin, Darrell and Richelle.
Russell moved to Winnipeg in 1968 and worked various jobs during that time, including being a Building manager and a Taxi driver.  In 1973 he moved his family to Selkirk Manitoba, where he worked as a Crane operator.   This job took Russell all over Manitoba to work.  One of his favorite memories was building the Flin Flon smokestack, which at the time was the tallest structure in Western Canada.
In 1980, Russell was able to accomplish one of his goals in life and bought a farm in Roblin Manitoba. Russell had a lifelong connection to the land and animals. Russell was very passionate when it came to the unique challenges and rewards of agriculture.  He loved repairing and maintaining vehicles and equipment, especially his tractors.  Russell was a vocal supporter of the Winnipeg Jets and Blue Bomber sports teams. Russell enjoyed being an active member of the Knights of Columbus. But his favorite hobby was attending auction sales around Roblin.
In 1998, Russell and his partner Joyce Scarf took on the responsibility of raising Joyce’s grandsons Justin and Austin Lindsay, a privilege that he enjoyed until his passing.  Russell’s legacy is the lessons he taught his family and friends, the work ethic he instilled in the people close to him, his love for his family, and how he inspired others.
Russell was predeceased by his parents, Tony and Mary Huta; his Bother Victor Huta; his sisters Victoria Snihor and Rose-Marie Markevich.  Remaining to cherish his memory are his children; Kevin, Darrel and Richelle Huta, His Sister Rosie (and Michael) Cherneski, his grandchildren; Dustin Huta, Fallon Lands, & Rebbecca Huta, his great-grandchild; Camden Brown, his loving partner Joyce Scarf, Joyce’s grandson’s Austin and Justin Lindsay, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Prayers were offered on Tuesday, October 14, 2025 at 7:00 pm with rosary led by the Knights of Columbus at 6:30 pm from the Sneath-Strilchuk Chapel in Roblin.
