Robert "Bob" Rodericks Obituary

Robert "Bob" Stanley Rodericks of Reedy Creek passed away on Saturday, April 20, 2024 at the age of 99 years.

Robert Stanley Rodericks (Bob) was born on March 1, 1925 at Reedy Creek
Manitoba to Nancy(Dolly) and Stanley Rodericks. He was the last surviving
member of his family. When he was 13, he went to work on farms in Westbourne
Manitoba. Grandpa would talk for hours telling how he went away so young and
worked so hard. We always heard about how scared he was being so far away.
He always told us about when he and Mitch Scarlett took the train to B.C to go
work. It was so far away! He got there at 3 AM tired and scared, he went into the
office and there was Percy Cooper. He was so happy to see a familiar face. He
was in B.C when the end of the war was announced. He would always smile and
say “People were crazy! They drove their cars into buildings! Crazy Crazy”
Grandpa loved telling his grandchildren and great grandchildren about his
travels, wild horse rides and funny friends.

When he was 23, he married the love of his life, Matilda. They were inseparable and fully
devoted to each other for 75 years. They had 6 children and moved all over Manitoba before
they settled back in Reedy Creek. Grandpa had many fond memories of when he was the taxi
for the area. Bad roads, baby delivery that didn't make it ….”Oh what a mess” …Besides the taxi,
Grandpa also helped with the home and was the mailman for many years.

Grandpa andGrandma were a huge part of so many lives. They traveled coast to coast, went to Alaska and
even went on rollercoasters in California. Grandpa was heartbroken when Grandma left him for
heaven last year. We thought he would follow right behind her, but there were great great
grandchildren on the way so we talked him into hanging on to see them. He did. When Echo
introduced him to Baby Ro, he said “ Well I can go now.” Amazing what he held on to.
Then, peacefully with his son Ray and daughter Gloria sitting right beside him..
He went to be united with his Savior, reunited with the love of his life and his
friends of long ago. It was a joyous reunion I’m sure.

Grandpa's faith and his love for the Lord sustained him through heartache
and pain. He was a pillar of our family and our church. There will never be a
more fine example. He will be so very fondly remembered and very sadly missed
but we all are so very grateful to have had the honor of calling this man ours.

“For we know that if our earthly house of this tabernacle were dissolved, we have a building of God, an house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens.” - 2 Corinthians 5:1KJV
