Robert (Bob) James Morley of Dauphin, Manitoba passed away on Wednesday May 10, 2023 at the age of 101 years. Bob was born in Dauphin on February 4, 1922 to his parents William and Daisy Morley nee Whitmore.
Bob attended the Mountview School until he went to work on the family farm. Farming was his way of life but fishing and bowling were his passions! When the farm work was caught up you could always find Bob and his father dipping their lines. In 2002 Bob gifted a parcel of land to the Intermountain Enhancement Sport Fishing Inc. This is now known as Uncle Bob’s Trout Pond. He was extremely honored to have the pond named for him. In June of 2022 a surprise celebration of Bob’s 100th birthday along with a celebration of his sister Betty’s 102nd birthday were held at the pond. He dipped his line in the water that day too!
Bob was involved as a leader for the Mountview 4-H Swine Club, held numerous positions within the Orange Lodge, member of the Dauphin Pioneers Association, and an active 5-Pin bowler. A large garden was always maintained with a huge asparagus patch which kept friends and family well supplied. Family was very important to Bob. He was extremely proud of his pioneer heritage. His family was 1 of the first 8 families to settle in the Gartmore District which later became part of the City of Dauphin. Bob was always willing and able to help family, friend or neighbour.
Bob was predeceased by his parents William & Daisy Morley (Whitmore), infant sister Edith, his brother-in-law Norman De Jong, sister Nora Nicholson and her husband Lewis, sister Dorothy Forbes and her husband Robert.
Bob is survived and will be lovingly remembered by his sister Betty De Jong, his brother Harvey (Shirley) Morley, numerous nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the staff of St. Pauls Home for the care they provided to Robert.
