Robert Hoover Obituary

Robert Clarke Hoover, known affectionately as Rob to his family and friends, passed away peacefully on December 23, 2025, in Grandview, Manitoba, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Born on April 1, 1952, in Edmonton, Alberta, Rob's life was characterized by his unwavering spirit, his love for the great outdoors and his dedication to his family and community. Rob's early years in Edmonton were filled with the promise of adventure, which he carried into every aspect of his life. He was a person of profound kindness and generosity, traits that were evident to all who had the pleasure of crossing paths with him. Rob worked for Luscar Sturco Coal Valley for 30 years where he became a Heavy Duty Mechanic and a respected member of the Operating Engineers Union.

Beyond his professional life, Rob was deeply spiritual, finding solace and meaning in the natural world. His love for hiking, fishing, hunting, quadding and skeet shooting provided him with countless hours of joy and tranquility.

Rob's legacy is carried on through his beloved children, Taylor and Krystal, grandchildren, Roxanne, Anna and Joe. His siblings, David (Carmen), Keith, and sister Shelly. They will fondly remember Rob for his generous nature and the unwavering support he provided throughout their lives. His niece and nephews, too, will miss the warmth of his generous smile. He was a man who lived fully and left this world better than he found it.

Rob was predeceased at an early age by his parents, Ewart and Jeanne and more recently his younger brother Leonard.

At Rob’s request cremation has taken place and a memorial service and interment will take place in the spring.  Robert will be buried with his mom, dad and Leonard.

As we say goodbye to Rob, we celebrate a life well-lived, marked by the pursuit of happiness. He will be profoundly missed by all, but his spirit will continue to inspire us to embrace life’s adventures. Rob's battle with cancer was a testament to the strength of the human spirit. Brother David was grateful to be with him as he passed over and began his next excellent adventure.
