Raymond Mann Obituary

Raymond William Mann passed peacefully into the arms of his Lord and Savior on April 13th, 2025 at the age of 89.

Raymond was born at Hudson Bay Junction, Saskatchewan on November 4th, 1935 to Donald Daniel and Rose Hellen (Woods) Mann. He was the second eldest of six children. He moved with his family to a farm near Ochre River, Manitoba in 1941. Raymond attended the Turtle River School until grade seven at which time he was needed on the farm.

Raymond worked in Red Lake, Ontario and on the Virden oil fields until he broke his leg at the age of 21. Raymond worked with his brothers for McMunn and Yates from 1958 to 1972.

Raymond used to help at the Goran Family Mink Ranch with his brother Gordon, where Sylvia (Moroz) Goran caught his attention. The two sparked a romance and were married on August 12th, 1967. Raymond became Dad to Fred, Greg and Lisa. Terri Lynne joined the family in 1968. They lived together in the Eclipse district.

Raymond and Sylvia purchased a store and gas station, east of Dauphin, which they operated together for three years. Raymond then returned to carpentry at McMunn and Edwards and Tkachuk Construction.

Twenty years of amazing memories were made at their cabin at Hills Camp near Waterhen. Raymond loved to fish and take the kids water skiing. He loved a wiener roast or a family corn boil, which were made all the more special when the guitars would come out.

After his heart surgery in 1993 Raymond and Sylvia made perogies together until they retired. Raymond was a proficient potato peeler, masher and an expert pincher.

Raymond and Sylvia moved on to Poplar Avenue in 1997. Raymond prided himself on having an immaculate yard and huge garden and he was super proud of his awards for their Christmas decorations.

They moved to Mountain View Villa in 2014 where Raymond made many new friends, participated in all the activities available and had his raised garden to tend to.

In the fall of 2024 Raymond moved into St. Paul’s home. His family is very thankful to all of the staff for their kind and gentle care of him there.

Raymond had so many fond memories of the family trip out to BC, his trip to Bemidji with Sylvia, their trips up to Thompson, and his fly in fishing trip to Peltier Lake.

Season tickets to the Dauphin Kings Hockey Club would lead to a home full of hockey boys, years’ worth of cheering and many lifelong friendships.

Music was in Raymond’s blood. He and his siblings all played various instruments and they loved to entertain with music. Raymond was a wonderful guitarist, and he and his father and brothers played in a band together. His family treasured their evenings gathered around the guitars and spoons for a sing along.

Raymond’s family was the light of his life, including the four-legged ones. He had his own way with dogs and kids and they all followed him anywhere he went. Raymond was thrilled as each grandchild and great grandchild joined the family. He loved to take the little ones on wagon rides, play bean bag toss with them and give them each a box of potatoes and a dollar.

Raymond was predeceased by his great granddaughter Alexis; his mom and dad, Don and Rose Mann; mother and father-in-law Fred and Mary Moroz; brothers Norman, Gordon and Ken; brothers-in-law Tom Bloomfield and Arnold Weerts; nephews Ricky, Dennis, David and nieces Kelly and Wendy.

Raymond is survived by his loving wife Sylvia, his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren: Fred and Sandy: Shannon, Tyler, Abby and Thomas; Melissa, Max, Robert and Jesse; Steven Greg and Jackie: Michael, Nicole and Leah; Chantelle, Brad, Jaxon, Naomi, Riley and Alex. Lisa and Neil: Ryan and Jess; Jason and Keesha-Dawn. Terri and Travis: Laura; Heather and Jesse.

He is survived by his sisters Marjory Weerts and Donna Bloomfield, sisters-in-law Marlene Mann and Wanda Mann and his nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.
