On August 26, 2023, Peter Choma passed away at the Dauphin Personal Care Home at the age of 84 years.
Peter was born to Harry and Tatiana (Katie) Choma on October 7, 1938, the fifth of nine children. He attended Drifting River School and farmed in the Rural Municipality of Gilbert Plains. On November 10, 1962 he married Elsie Burdeny, and together they raised two children, Brian and Tracy.
Peter truly loved farming, especially picking stones, cultivating the fields and tending the cattle. He was a man of integrity, humble and kind, and always willing to help others. Family and friends enjoyed Peter’s jovial spirit and generosity.
In 2014, Peter retired from farming and he and Elsie moved to Dauphin. They enjoyed watching hockey games on TV and having family and friends drop by for visits. Due to declining health, Peter moved to the Dauphin Personal Care Home in September 2022. Though he braved many medical hardships over the years, his lightheartedness and positive outlook never wavered - when Peter greeted you with that twinkle in his eye, it would light up your day!
Peter is predeceased by his parents, Harry and Katie; brothers Mike, John, and Bill; sister Mary; brothers-in-law Paul and Steve; and sisters-in-law Olive and Stella.
Memories of Peter will be cherished by his wife of over 60 years, Elsie; his children Brian (Laura) and Tracy (Darren); his grandchildren Lucas (Tasha), Haley (Nathan), Brooke (Dawson), Brianna, Colin (Claire), Tani (Tyler) and Braden; his brother Steve (Gloria); his sisters Ann (Paul), Adeline, and Elizabeth (Gary); as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.
