Pauline Palamar

With family by her side, Pauline Palamar passed away peacefully surrounded by love on June 19, 2026 at the Palliative Care Unit, Assiniboine Centre, Brandon General Hospital at 93 years of age.

Pauline “Polly” was one of six children born to parents George and Maria Chomyszyn Feb 15, 1933 on the family homestead Hudson Bay, SK.

Pauline will be lovingly remembered by her sons Brian (Donna) Chomyszyn, Paul (Cheryl) Zagrobelny, step-son Orest (Olga) Zagrobelny, daughters Carol (Donald) Veller, Veronica (Dave) Billy, Jean (Vern Procychyn) Lewis, Joan (Garth) Kalin and “grand-daughter” Dawne (Don Kowal) Ducharme. Extended family, step-sons Mike (Elaine) Palamar, Melvin Palamar, step-daughter June Palamar in addition to many nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

Pauline was predeceased by her parents George & Maria Chomyszyn, husband of 41 years William “Bill” Palamar, sons Michael Zagrobelny, Peter Zagrobelny, still-born son Jamie Palamar-Zagrobelny and first husband Michael “Mike” Zagrobelny. Extended family step children Diana Maranchuk and Manuel Palamar.

Pauline will always be remembered for the beautiful individual she was, both inside and out. Her unwavering love, kindness and dedication to her family or helping others leaves a legacy that will endure in all who knew her.

The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude and appreciation to Dr. Barron, nurses and staff for their compassion, empathy and exceptional care provided to Pauline while at the Palliative Care Unit.

Prayers will be offered on Monday, June 29, 2026 at 6:30 pm from the Sneath-Strilchuk Family Care Centre in Dauphin.

A Funeral Service will be held for Pauline on Tuesday, June 30, 2026 at 10:30 am from the Sneath-Strilchuk Family Care Centre in Dauphin.  

Interment will follow in the Riverside Cemetery in Dauphin.

Should friends so desire, donations in memory of Pauline may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada, or the Brandon Regional Health Centre Palliative Care Unit, c/o Brandon Regional Health Centre Foundation.

This service will be recorded and uploaded for those who are unable to attend.
