Orville Harris Obituary

Arthur Orville Harris passed away June 4, 2020 at the age of 77 in the Personal Care Home in Dauphin, Manitoba which had been his residence for the past 5 years.
Orville was born in the Dauphin Hospital on March 29, 1943.  He was the first child and only son born to Arthur Harris and Greta (Roszell) Harris.  He was the older and only brother to Katherine, Betty-Anne, Janice and Patsy.
Orville was married to Ellen Tucker on December 7th, 1968.  They lived in and around the Dauphin area for the next 45 years.  Orville lived in his home for 2 years after Ellen's passing in 2013.  Then, due to his loss of sight; moved to the Personal Care Home in 2015.
Orville helped his father run their fur farm just north of Dauphin until 1988.  He had taken an electrician's course in Winnipeg in the early 70's and owned Harris Electric in Dauphin for many years.  He was also a volunteer on the Dauphin Fire Department for 34 years.  He was very proud of his time spent serving with his fireman family.
Orville has had many interests throughout his lifetime.  He enjoyed the outdoors, snowmobiling, hunting, fishing, archery, and gardening in his later years.  He always had pots of flowers blooming all around his yard.  He enjoyed spending time visiting friends on his ham radio and many of his Saturdays were spent getting to as many garage sales as possible.  His truck never seemed big enough to haul his treasures home.
Orville was predeceased by his wife Ellen, his parents Art and Greta Harris, brother-in-law Eugene Trupish and cousins Stan Harris, Barbara (Harris) Hunt and Helen (Ward) Harris.
He will be greatly missed by his sisters Katherine Trupish of Dauphin, Betty-Anne (Cameron) Irving of Yorkton, SK, Janice (Keith) Irving of Sylvania, SK and Patsy Harris of Dauphin, his close cousins Bill (Lorna) Harris of Calgary, Philip (Kelly) Harris of Calgary and Gloria Harris of Dauphin as well as numerous other cousins, nieces and nephews.
