Olive Sanderson

Mom was born in Ste. Rose du Lac, MB on August 8, 1948 to Emma and Philias Vandal.

She was married at a young age to Clifford Sanderson. Together they raised their five kids Andrew, Philias, Julie, Darrell, and Sandra. Often times she took care of her nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great grandchildren, as well. 

Mom was a caring person which drew her to work home-care for most of her life. 

After retirement she enjoyed the odd bingo and slot machine. 

Throughout her younger years she made sure her children always had food, clean clothes and a well kept home.

During the winter months she would haul water from the lake with her five kids in tow and go home to scrub clothes on a washboard. In the summer months you would often find her in the garden pulling weeds and walking 2 miles from home to haul potatoes. In the fall time she was busy canning her vegetables in preparation for the long winter months ahead. 

She was a phenomenal cook, as well. She passed down her knowledge to her kids and grandkids. 

When we would go to the lake for a shore lunch, she’s been known to pack everything but the kitchen sink. 

Mom was a committed church goer till the very end. If you listened carefully, you might just hear her singing along to all the hymns.

A Funeral Service was held for Olive on Friday, April 11, 2025 at 2:30 pm from the Sneath-Strilchuk Family Care Centre in Dauphin with Fr. Christopher Dubois officiating.
