Olga Suidak Obituary

Olga Suidak of Roblin, Manitoba passed away on Friday, September 27, 2019 at the age of 87 years. Olga Suidak’s life began on November 20, 1931 in Buchanan, Saskatchewan. She was born to parents, Polly and George Diakow and joined eldest brother, Matt. Soon after another brother, Bill was born. In 1944 her family moved to Springside, Saskatchewan where they built a mixed farming operation to support their family.
On October 21, 1951 Olga married Victor Suidak and they began their lives in Theodore Saskatchewan. In 1953 Victor and Olga welcomed their eldest son, Wayne, followed by Larry in 1956, Richard 1959, Bradley 1961 and finally Sandra in 1965. In 1966 they loaded up their family and moved to Deepdale, Manitoba where they continued to farm and took over operation of the Deepdale Post office and Mail delivery route. The Suidak’s were well known in the area as they delivered mail for 26 years. Aside from the farm and Post Office, Olga loved to grow a big garden, beautify her yard with flowers and trees, and care for her family in every way she could. She was a woman who always put her family and her faith before herself or anything else.
In 1993 Victor and Olga retired from the farm and moved to Roblin. A short three years later Victor died suddenly April 6, 1996 at the age of 68. Most of us remember what a hard time this was for Olga.
Olga had a big group of lady friends in Roblin from being part of groups such as the Hospital Auxiliary, Rebecca's, Sacred Heart Church and the Red Hats Club. Along with friends and family Olga traveled across Canada from BC, Churchill and to the Maritime's, on to Branson, Folklarama, Alaska, Florida and Nashville. Olga even traveled across to China and Italy.
Olga always kept busy with hobbies that included collecting angels, cooking, crocheting, puzzles, word searches, solitaire, and babysitting for grandchildren often.  Olga continued to have a garden, and meticulously maintained a beautiful yard well into her 80’s. Olga ran a tight ship always keeping her house very tidy and even went as far as ironing her dish towels. Neighbors in Newton bay always commented on Olga’s driveway being cleared well before anyone had woken up.
Although physically Olga was very able and independent on January 12, 2019 family reluctantly had to help move Olga into Roblin’s Personal Care Home, due to safety concerns with her and at times failing memory. Olga adjusted well enjoying the activities, visiting and church services.
In the early hours of September 27, 2019 on her brother, Matt’s birthday, Olga passed away in her sleep and was reunited with her husband, Victor; son, Wayne Suidak; daughter-in-law, Bernice Suidak; brothers, Matt and Bill (Rose) Diakow and parents, Polly and George Diakow. Left to celebrate her life are sister-in-law, Martha (Ron) Kobelka; sister-in-law, Adeline (Steve) Hrynkiw, sister-in-law, Kay Diakow; special cousin, Rita Diakow; daughter-in-law, Tammy Suidak (Wayne’s wife) and their children, Adean, Tyler, Ashley, and Ory Suidak; son, Larry Suidak and his children, Jennifer, Justin, and Miranda; son, Richard (Sophie) Suidak and their children, Joseph, Willie and Richel; son, Bradley (Wendy) Suidak and their children, Hilary and Jody; daughter, Sandra (Ken) Stephanow and their children, Britteny and Cally. As well as many friends, spouses, extended family members, great-grandchildren and even great-great grandchildren.
We grieve the loss of a wonderful mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend who will be fondly remembered by everyone as a kind, supportive, patient, hardworking, proud, and loving soul.
