Nona Eileen Morran passed away peacefully at the Grandview Personal Care Home on February 15th, 2025, surrounded by family members.
Nona Eileen was born on November 12th, 1951, to Bun and Ed Morran at the Grandview Hospital. She attended Morranville School, Grandview School, and ARC Industries in Dauphin. She worked at the Friendly Corner Bake Shop in Grandview. In her later years, Nona attended the Seniors Activity Centre at Grandview Gateways until she moved to the Grandview Personal Care Home.
Nona loved life. She enjoyed going for walks and visiting all her aunts who lived in town or calling them on the phone. She knew all their phone numbers by heart. Nona loved going for coffee and hearing all the news from around town. Some of her favourite activities included crafts, puzzles, and colouring. She also loved watching Blue Jays baseball, curling, and Kaine play hockey. We mustn't forget her joy for dancing; Bruce McLaren and Nona used to dance the night away.
When Nona moved to the care home, a new Nona emerged—one who loved more bling and colour than ever before. She started dyeing her hair a special color for every holiday and special occasion. One Easter was unforgettable; she wanted to be an Easter egg, and she was, with every colour of the rainbow in her hair. It didn’t take long for Nona to settle into care home life. She became the unofficial greeter, always letting the staff know when someone was at the door. You could always count on her to alert the staff when someone needed help. It also didn’t take her long to learn how to finagle an extra icy square or diet Pepsi from the nurses.
Nona is survived by her brothers Brad (Marnie) and Dean (Jacquie); nieces and nephews Karmen (Trevor) Lexi, Jayce Pfeifer, Stacey (Rob) Riley, Haylie Mullen, Lindsey Morran, Terry Lynn (Eric) Price, Jodi (Corey) Calyn, Kade Lobert, Kaine (Lesley) Gage, Holt, Flynn, Jude Morran, Durl (Renee) Keeley, Oaklynn, and Lennex Morran; one aunt, Dorothy Longmuir; and many cousins. She is predeceased by her parents, Ed and Bun Morran, and her special puppy, Angel. She was also predeceased by many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
A Funeral Service was held for Nona on Saturday, February 22, 2025 at 2:00 pm from the Grandview United Church in Grandview with Rev. Luckson Mariba officiating.
