Nick was born on February 4th, 1927 to John and Helen Senyk. He attended Bell Creek school and in his younger years he helped his parents on the farm. He met Kay Shumski when he was in his early 20’s and they got married on October 9th, 1953 then immediately moved to the farm. He loved gardening, going cranberry picking, mushroom picking, and living on the farm. Nick and Kay loved their animals, raising cattle, pigs, horses, chickens, dogs, and cats all throughout their years on the farm. Nick loved music, he played the accordion, harmonica, and violin. He loved playing his violin for whoever came by to visit and playing for his budgies. Family was important to him, and he always enjoyed all the visits, video calls, and photos of his grandkids. When Kay was diagnosed and struggled with cancer he stepped up and became her caregiver. In his old age he was still very active, washing dishes, cutting grass, and taking care of his Budgie Houdini who always found a way to escape his cage! Nick’s wish was to spend his whole life on the farm and that’s what he was able to do.
