Nicholas Chuhay Obituary

Nicholas Elmer Chuhay was born April 9, 1928 in Winnipegosis.  Passed away on June 11, 2020.

Nicholas was born to William and Agnes Chuhay in the district of Lynnville, that's north west of Winnipegosis.  He attended the country school till grade 8, then ventured north to Lynn lake to work for Chuipka's Air Ways and Fisheries, transporting fish to Winnipeg from 1953 - 1972.  Later Nick went to work at a saw mill in Ontario (northern area) where he met his future bride working in the near by restaurant.  They were wed in Pinewood, Celina's home town, on July 3, 1967.  Shortly after they were home bound to farm on the family farm, having cattle, pigs & chickens and gardens for their livelihood until they retired to Winnipegosis.

Nick enjoyed calling bingo at the Legion Hall and New Horizon Senior Centre.  He planted large gardens of his favorite potatoes and enjoying Celina's dills also, and picking and selling raspberries.
They both took time for travels to Alaska, Florida and eastern Canada and spent time visiting family in Ontario.  Listening to CFRY country and gospel music on Sundays was a favorite, not to mention fiddle tunes.
After the passing of his wife he sold his house and moved to the Elk's Manor. Shortly after he was hospitalized with health issues and next to the personal care home in Winnipegosis where he enjoyed more  bingo games and was quite excited with the new game of bowing, not to forget all the birthday cakes and ice cream.
Rest in Peace.
