Mike Tymchuk Obituary

It is with profound sadness the family of Michael August John Tymchuk announce his unexpected passing on December 6, 2025 at the age of 62 at his home in Dauphin, Manitoba.

Michael was born July 24, 1963 in Thompson, Manitoba to Mike John Tymchuk and Josephine Eleanor (nee) Toporowski. He was a welcome and anticipated addition to the family especially by his older sister Carol-Lynn.

Michael received his education in Thompson and later in Dauphin where he lived until his passing.

Michael was employed by the Province of Manitoba (Department of Highways) the entirety of his career of 41 years. Michael began working with the Highways Department after he finished high school. During his distinguished career he received several honors and recognition for his work and professionalism.

Michael loved music and enjoyed playing percussion. He joined Boris Nowosad and the Melody Kings at the age of 16 years old. He was an active member of the band until his passing. Music brought joy and pleasure to Michael.

Upon his retirement in April of 2023, Michael took pleasure in his yard, home and especially his truck.

Michael was quiet and humble and did not offer his opinion very often. He valued family and family traditions. He enjoyed family gatherings big and small…a cup of coffee and conversation came easily to Michael and those around him.

Michael is survived by his mother Joyce Hawryluk of Dauphin; sister Carol-Lynn Loewen and husband Rudy of Winnipeg; nieces and nephews Andrew and Shanna Funk, Ashley Funk and Stephen Nolan, Tyler Funk and Garry Martin and Terri-Ann and Jeff Graida; great nieces Mackenzie Riedel, Lucy Riedel; great nephews Max Riedel and Isaac Graida; godparents Celia Penner and Tony Tymchuk; great aunt Lillian Yarotski, aunts, uncles and cousins cherish his memor. God daughter Marin Federowich and god son Trevor Fedorkiw held a special place in Michael's heart. Many friends and neighbors will miss him.

Michael had two daughters Katherine and Kayla Tymchuk.
