Mary Sorochuk

Mary was born May 5, 1925, in Roblin, MB, to John and Effie Biluk, they lived in the Zelina District and she attended Hillcrest School.

In November of 1944, she married William (Bill) Sorochuk and together they farmed north of Roblin for several years in the Deepdale District. In 1953, she welcomed her only daughter, Joanne.
Any spare time she had she would spend enjoying playing bingo and socializing with others having coffee at the Downtown Diner. She loved listening to country music and dancing 2-3 times a week. Her favourites are John Denver, Alan Jackson, Darius Rucker, and Blake Shelton. Her baking of tarts, cookies, and flapper pie was her best!

She was predeceased by her husband William (Bill) in 1970, her father John in 1973, her mother Effie in 1990, brother-in-law Walter Glutek in 1997, brother Bill in 2003, sister Stella Glutek in 2017, and her brother Mike in 2023.

Surviving to mourn her death and cherish many fond memories are her daughter, Joanne (Jim) of Edmonton, AB; grandsons, Kevin (Carlyn) of Edmonton, AB and Jason (Justina) of Edmonton, AB; three great grandchildren, Olive, Hazel, and Jameson; nephews Peter Glutek of Wawa, ON and Michael (Allison) Glutek of Kelowna, BC; niece Mary Anne (Eric) Mitrikas of Wawa, ON, and numerous great nieces and nephews.

Her hardships, her labour, her suffering are now over. May she reside forever in the house of the Lord.

Funeral service was held on Saturday, April 12, 2025 at 11:00 am at Sneath - Strilchuk Funeral Services- Roblin Chapel with Father Ivan Hnative officiating and Peter Wyss as cantor. Interment followed in St. Michael's Ukrainian Catholic Cemetery. The pallbearers were Kevin Ross, Michael Shenderevich, Boris Yakimishyn, Barry Paulenko, Frank Baranowski, and Dennis Mysko.
