It is with great sadness in our hearts we announce that Mary Shenderevich passed away on October 28th, 2025, at the age of 99. She was known by many names, mom, Baba, great Baba, sister, auntie or friend.
Mary was born on October 26, 1926, in Postup, MB to John and Mary Welechenko. She grew up on a farm with many brothers and sisters. Mary married Tony Shenderevich on July 12, 1944, at St. Michael’s. They started farming in the Merridale area and 16 months later they were blessed with their only child, Mike. Mary would raise their son while growing a large garden, tending the farm animals, cooking and cleaning the house tirelessly. Attending church and its functions was a part of her life. When the situation arose, she would also take in and look after her nieces and nephews because she loved her family.
Mike would marry Alice, and three grandsons were brought into the family. They all loved her, and she loved them even though they were a handful.
Later, travelling across country to see family was also a love of hers. Weekends were for visiting family and friends either to just talk or play cards. Mary made sure everyone felt welcome and no one left hungry. Gardening, knitting, and bingo were some of her hobbies. No matter how busy she was Mary always made time to watch her soap operas. Watching the Blue Bombers and Jets became a favourite past time, as well.
Unfortunately, Mary was diagnosed with cancer in 1995 but through her faith and determination she fought it and survived.
Three great grandchildren Haley, Emery and Grayson were brought into the family, and her love would only grow.
When her husband Tony had to go to the personal care home due to his health, Mary would go frequently to feed and talk with him. After his passing, Mary stayed on for many years all by yourself. Sadly, a tumour was diagnosed, and Mary had to go to the personal care home. She accepted this, but her faith was unwavering.
Mary will forever be cherished and remembered by Mike (Alice) of Roblin, MB; Mark of Virden, MB; Allan(Tina) of Roblin, MB; Steven of Roblin, MB;, Haley (Noah) of Redvers, SK; Emery and Grayson of Roblin, MB; great- great grandchildren Noah Mya, Sister Jean of Roblin, MB as well as many nieces and nephews.
Mary was predeceased by her husband, Tony of 66 years; parents John and Mary; sisters Annie, Lena, Stella, Olga and Ann; brothers Andrew and Jim. Everyone who met her loved her and she loved them. We all miss her, but now she is in the loving arms of God.
