Mary Elsie Levasseur-Kaye, Ozhaawashko Binesiikwe, Blue Thunderbird Woman of Drumheller, AB passed away on Wednesday, May 10, 2023 at the age of 86 years.
On Wednesday, May 10, 2023, Mary Elsie Levasseur-Kaye, loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother passed away peacefully
with her family by her side.
Mary was born on March 10, 1938 to Frank Roderick Levasseur and Anne Amelia Allery-Henry in a cabin, on a hill in Riding Mountain, MB.
Mary was predeceased by her parents, her siblings Frederick, Hilda, Paul, Ann and Jim, her sons David. Elvis and Dennis and by her grandchildren Christine, Michael and Desmond.
She leaves to mourn; her children Kenneth, Marie (Warren), Shirley (Rob), Suzette (Les), Donna, Katherine (Dan) Mikyla, Roger and Frank, 23 grandchildren and 34 great grandchildren whom she all loved very much.
She was a bright shining light in all of our lives, laughing and making us all smile. When we think of Koko, we will always remember red lips, great hair, rabbit soup, dandelion tea, red wine nights, learning Ojibwe bad words, singing and dancing. She was our role model. A funny, smart, kind, classy and bad-assy woman. She could light up a room and never stopped talking or telling stories. Mary was brave as well as a brave warrior. Her hands could heal your hurt and her voice warmed our souls. Her death leaves a heartache no one can ever heal. Love leaves a memory no one can steal. We love you nokomis!
Funeral Service was held on Wednesday, May 17th at 1:00 pm from the residence of Moise and Valerie Cote, 803 Sucker Creek Road, Ebb and Flow First Nation.
Interment followed in the Kelwood Cemetery, Kelwood, MB
