It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Marion Leschasin, born January 20, 1922, died September 25, 2020.
Marion is the second oldest of five children to Frank and Anne Brantrock of Oakburn,MB. Marion started school in 1929 at King George School in Oakburn, MB. The family moved to the Petlura homestead in 1929 and Marion stayed in Shoal Lake with her grandparents until the end of term. She attended Pozir School from 1930 - 31, and the remainder of her schooling in Gilbert Plains until 1938. Marion went to Toronto, Ont. in 1938 and worked in a store owned by her Uncle Edmund Bantrock. She came home from Toronto in 1939 and married Wesley Leschasin on October 28, 1939. They had 2 sons, Larry born in 1941 and Ivan in 1947.
Wes died in February 1997 at the age of 85 years. Marion was predeceased by her brother Peter and his wife Annette Bantrock, sisters Emilie Bantrock and Elsie Trudelle.
Marion leaves to mourn her passing: her sons Larry and wife Heather, and Ivan. Her grandsons and their mother Julie. Great grand daughters Katherine and Karter plus her adopted stepfamily of grand children and great grand children. She also leaves one remaining sister Rose and husband Jack Liebgott of Grandview, and nephew Frank Trudelle and husband Richard of Florida, and niece in law Elizabeth Leschyshyn of Grandview.
Her son Larry married Julie Georgette in 1966 and had 3 sons, Lesley, Darrin, and Darryl. Ivan is not married and lives in the Pleasant Valley area, Larry and second wife Heather married in 1995 and reside in Grandview. Heather brings 3 more sons to the table, Greg, wife LeeAnne Herkert, Trevor Herkert and Jason and wife Amber Herkert. Marion has 2 great granddaughters Katherine and Karter and 6 step grand children and 4 great step grandchildren.
Marion was very involved in the WI, Drop In Center and the Ladies Auxiliary Church Group, helping with many preparations for weddings and fall suppers. She was a member of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Petlura for many years. One of her biggest hobbies was playing bingo and cards. She travelled with her husband and friends from coast to coast and to the U.S.A. She was a board member for both the Grandview Drop Inn Center and the Personal Care Center.
Marion was the matriarch of this family, hosting many Ukrainian Christmas’ with the whole family in attendance.

A Private Funeral Service was held for Marion from the Holy Ghost Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Petlura, MB with Rev. Father Brent Kuzyk officiating.
Interment followed in the Holy Ghost Ukrainian Orthodox Cemetery.
