Marion Gillis

On March 20, 2025, Marion Gillis passed away peacefully at the age of 86 at the Dauphin Personal Care Home.

She is survived by daughter Kim (Lionel) and son Kevin (Carol); three grandchildren Chandra (Camron), Tiffany (Jon) and Kelsey (Kolten); two great grandchildren Eleanor Jo and Karsen. Her sister Muriel (Louis) and brother Ernie, sister-in-law Shirley, brother-in-law Darrel (Judith), sister-in-law Donna.

Marion was predeceased by her husband Jim; parents Jim and Elsie Richardson; and parents- in-law Rod and Anne Gillis.

Marion was the eldest of three children born and raised in the Fork River district. She attended Mowat School, Fork River and DCTI in Dauphin.

She attended Little’s Business College in Dauphin. Her first job was working for Eaton’s in the office.

A short time later she applied and was hired as the store manager’s personal assistant at Eaton’s in downtown Winnipeg.

While Marion commuted back regularly to see family, she met a young man named Jim. This courtship lasted a few years followed by wedding bells on October 27, 1962.

The next few years brought two children into their lives. They raised their family in Sifton while commuting to Dauphin for sports activities.

Once the children left home, they decided to move to Dauphin in 1985.

She began her career working for home care well past retirement age.

Marion has requested not to have a service, and we are respectfully honoring her wishes.
