Marie Jeanne Delaurier (M J) nee Mongrain passed away on August 27, 2023 in Ste. Rose du Lac, MB at the Dr. Gendreau Personal Care Home at the age of 79 with her family by her side.
MJ was born on July 30, 1944 in Ste. Rose du Lac to Maurice & Helen Mongrain (nee Bonin). Her siblings are Albert Mongrain, Blanche Comeau, Leon Mongrain and Noella Menard. She married Lucien Delaurier on May 15, 1965 where they resided in Ste. Rose and raised their 3 children, Mike, Richard and Joanne.
Marie Jeanne pursued a career as an LPN at the Ste. Rose General Hospital where she made many wonderful memories with co-workers and friends. She had a real talent and a love for crafts such as knitting, crocheting, paper toll and cross stitching. Her favorite outing was the Knights of Columbus Bingo every Thursday night. As a young family they went camping at Methley Beach, graduated to a cabin at Christensen’s Beach then moved on to travelling the world.
In 1999, MJ took an early retirement and in 2001 she was diagnosed with early onset Alzheimer’s Disease. In 2006, she was placed in the Dr. Gendreau Personal Care Home where she remained to be cared for.
She was predeceased by her parents, her brother Albert Mongrain and her brother-in-law Roger Comeau.
MJ is survived by her 3 children Mike (Susan) Delaurier, Richard (Karen) Delaurier and Joanne (Dave) Harder, her husband Lucien, 8 grandchildren Jolynn, Rebekka, Madisson, Julianne, Jeanelle, Chantelle, Coryn and Cameron, 3 great-grandchildren Zailee, Leara and Anna, her siblings Blanche Comeau, Leon (Stella) Mongrain and Noella (Denis) Menard along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral Mass for Marie Jeanne will be celebrated on Friday, October 6th at 1:00 pm from Ste. Rose de Lima Roman Catholic Church, Ste. Rose du Lac. Fr. Michel Nault will celebrate the mass with a private interment following in the Ste. Rose Cemetery. The rosary will be recited beginning at 12:30 pm.
