Marguerite Mary Mazier of Ste. Rose du Lac and formerly of Rorketon, Manitoba passed away at the Gendreau Home on April 19, 2018 at the age of 94 years.
Marguerite was born in 1924 at Bloomfield, Digby County, Nova Scotia.  She was the third born to Joseph and Elizabeth Comeau.
Marguerite was a gregarious and out going person.  She was a good student and graduated from high school.  As a student she worked for room and board and earned $25 / week feeding prisoners at the county jail.  After high school Marguerite also graduated from the Digby School of Business.
The second world war was raging and Digby Harbour had the distinction of being one of the best deep water ports in the world.  As a major allied naval base, troop and supply convoys departed Digby on a regular basis.
Marguerite met one of those sailors from the prairies, as many were.  His name was Dmetro Mazier, chief petty officer and engineer in the Royal Canadian Navy.
They were married on November 11, 1944 just prior to his departure for convoy duty.
Fortunately the war was to end in 1945 and Marguerite and Matt, as they were known, headed west to homestead near Rorketon, Manitoba and Matt's family.
As Marguerite recounted her years in her adopted home she said she had no regrets for having left her beloved Nova Scotia to relocate in the Manitoba community of Rorketon which adopted her as a newcomer and where she embraced their hospitality for 70+ years.  She and Matt raised two children, Vic and Carol, on a farm a mile from town.
Early on, farm life and Marguerite met head on.  It was no contest!  Marguerite mastered every aspect of farm life as a wife, mother, homemaker, working partner, manager, and 4-H leader.  Later on in life she became a community booster and worker before she became a caregiver for her beloved husband who predeceased her in 2004.
Marguerite filled her later years immersed in community activities, supporting friends and family in their achievements and needs.
Finally, Marguerite found it necessary to take up residence in the near by community of Ste. Rose du Lac where health care was more accessible.
Marguerite was predeceased by her father Joseph and mother Elizabeth, husband Dmetro, siblings Evelyn, Annie, Clarence and Herb, and daughter in  law Margaret.
Surviving siblings are brother Frank (Connie), sisters Muriel and Elaine, and sisters in law Kathleen and Joyce.
Marguerite is survived by son Victor and his sons Michael and Mark, and daughter Carol and husband Roy, their children Darryl (Jennifer) and Brenda (Ron) and great grandchildren Hayley, Reid and Jasmine, and many nieces and nephews.
