Margaret Pachkowski of Ethelbert Manitoba passed away in the early morning of July 24, 2025. Margaret was born in Sifton on February 21, 1949 to parents Metro and Sophie Evasiuk.
As a child she shared a single bedroom in the farmhouse attic with her nine brothers and sisters. In the early 1960’s she met Jerry Pachkowski and were married February 22, 1969. They moved to Fort McMurray, Alberta where they raised their 3 daughters Laura, Deborah and Christine.
In 2002, they returned to Ethelbert Manitoba for their retirement on Jerry’s family farm. Margaret was known for her ability to make everyone feel welcome in her home, frequently hosting family dinners and lending a friendly ear to confide in. An early diagnosis of Parkinsons disease would not slow her down. No matter what, she always saw her best days in front of her, and never behind her. Margaret never let her condition break her spirit. She stayed on her feet and ultimately lived a full life far longer than typically expected for someone with Parkinson's. And she did so with an unfailing sense of humour about it.
Margaret is survived by her husband Jerry; children Laura (Pat), Christine (Matthew), Deborah; grandson Thomas Reid; brothers Mike (Heather), Mervin (Theresa), and Lawrence (Pam); sisters Betty Shumka (Marvin), Shirley Pachkowski and Frances Duzsik (Kelly), sisters in law: Linda, Gail, Gloria Joliet (Ron), Ruth and numerous members of her extended family.
Margaret is predeceased by her parents, Metro and Sophie Evasiuk; brothers Ernie, Andy and John; sister-in-law Kari: and brothers-in-law Theodore and Larry.
Funeral Service was held for Margaret on Thursday, August 7, 2025 at 11:00 am from the Sneath-Strilchuk Family Care Centre in Dauphin with Rev Father Ivan Hnativ officiating.
Interment followed in the Rhodes Ukrainian Catholic Cemetery.
