Marcel Nédélec Obituary

Marcel Nédélec of Ste. Rose du Lac, formerly of Toutes Aides, MB passed away on Wednesday, September 26, 2018 at the age of 96 years.

Marcel was born on the farm near Toutes Aides, MB on August 12, 1922. He grew up taking care of the cattle and horses.  He attended school in a little building near Toutes Aides. He went up to grade 8, where math was his best subject. Hunting, trapping and fishing were always a big part of his life.

He joined the Canadian Army when he was 23 years old and served in Europe during World War II. The majority of his time was spent in Holland, Germany and Belgium. After being honourably discharged in 1946 he returned to farming in Toutes Aides.

In the fifties he started ranching with two of his brothers at Sandy Point north of Crane River.

Marcel met Clementine Peeters in 1964 and they married in 1965. In April 1966 they left the ranch in Sandy Point just before the birth of their first son. After his birth they built a house and set up the ranch near Toutes Aides. Another son was born in 1969 and a daughter in 1972. After his accident in 1991 he remained positive and continued farming for many years, before retiring. He moved to Ste. Rose in 2012.

He loved playing cards and to him it was not just a game, it was serious business. So, if you were playing a game as his partner, you had better not make a mistake! He also loved telling stories to his children and grandchildren of his youth and time in the Army.

Marcel was a long time (59) year member of the Royal Canadian Legion in Ste. Rose and one of the founding charter members of the St. Lawrence Knights of Columbus council.

Marcel is survived by his loving wife of 53 years Clementine. His children André (Lorna), René, Dianne (Mike Switzer) and his four grandchildren: Marcus (Leonda) Switzer, Simone Switzer, Aaron Nédélec and Alyssa Nédélec.

Also left to mourn are his sister Louise Tardiff, Sister in law Martine Nédélec and numerous nieces and nephews

Marcel was predeceased by his parents Alain and Marie (Bourvic) Nédélec, his siblings Annette (Raymond Pinette), Aline (Tony Hoffman), Alain, René, Louis, and Rose (Philippe Michaud)
