Mabel Walchuk

On Sunday, April 23, 2024, Mabel Walchuk, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother passed away at the age of 102.

She married George Walchuk in the year 1938.  They farmed and made their home in several areas of Boulton and Grandview, until George’s passing in 2002.  She later moved to an apartment complex in Roblin for a while and on to Crocus Court and resided there till her passing.

During her active years, she very much enjoyed gardening, also preserving, freezing, and storing the produce.  She was an avid mushroom picker and had her own secret spots.  She enjoyed caring for the animals on the farm and especially her chickens, which were another of her joys.

Whenever possible she would attend church services and didn’t hesitate to lend a helping hand at whatever event was taking place.

Mabel was predeceased by parents Alex and Mary Goodes; husband George; Daughter Debbie; Sister Elsie and Victoria; Brother John; as well as 4 grandchildren.

She is survived by her sister Annabelle (Jerry) at Salmon Arm, B.C.; Daughter Marie Maluga in Brandon and Pearl Froom (Glen) in Dauphin; Grandchildren Keith, Glenn, Darcy, Tim, Terry, Jason and Shelley; and 11 great-great-grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

In Lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations may be made in memory of Mabel to plant a tree in her honor.
