Lynda May Henowitch
Lynda May Henowitch of McCreary passed away with her family by her side on Monday, January 6, 2025, at the Ste. Rose General Hospital at the age of 78 years.
Lynda was born on May 26, 1946, in Winnipeg, MB to Donald and Marion McDonald. She grew up in the west end of the city, in St. James with her older sister Donna and her younger brother Bill. Lynda enjoyed summers in Winnipeg, but her favorite summer activity was spending time at the family cottage on Lake Winnipeg.
Lynda attended the University of Manitoba where she completed an Education Diploma. She moved to Kelwood at 21 years old to complete her teaching practicum and it was there that she met her future husband Stanley at a dance in 1967. Lynda and Stanley were married on August 1, 1968, in Winnipeg at Deer Lodge United Church. Lynda and Stanley had two children, Jackie and Scott.
Lynda will be missed and fondly remembered by her husband Stanley of McCreary, her daughter Jackie Fletcher and grandson Gage, her son Scott Henowitch (Candice) and Granddaughter Stella, her sister Donna Thompson and nephews Jim, Bob, and Glenn, her brother Bill McDonald (Diane) and their children Corey and Robyn, and her sister-in-law Marjorie Zieroth (Arnie) and their 3 boys Jaysen, Jered and Vince. She will also be missed by cousins, great nephews, great- nieces, neighbours and friends.
A celebration of Lynda’s life was held on Saturday, January 18th, 2025, at 1:00 pm from Knox United Church, McCreary, MB. Norma Windle led the service. Lynda was laid to rest in the McCreary Cemetery Columbarium following the service.
Thank you to the staff and nurses of the Ste Rose General Hospital and the McCreary Alonsa Personal Care Home for the care given to Lynda.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to MS Canada in Lynda’s honour.
