With sorrow, the family of Lisa Marie Young announce her sudden but peaceful death, on November 26th, 2022 at her home in Dauphin, Manitoba.
Lisa was born in St. Anthony’s Hospital in The Pas, Manitoba on August 9th, 1970 to Roderick Young and Doris Martin Young.
Lisa’s education began at McNeil Elementary School and continued at LT Col. Barker V.C. School, MacKenzie Middle School, Dauphin Regional Comprehensive Secondary School, and Brandon University. She was currently continuing her education in the Strive program at the Parkland Campus of Assiniboine Community College. She was proud of her accomplishments through Strive and was looking forward to a brighter future.
On July 17, 1991, Lisa gave birth to her precious son Josh. He was the sunshine of her life and her greatest love. His battle with severe MS was one they fought together as mother and son. Josh’s passing at the young age of 24 in 2016 was a devastating blow to Lisa.
We will always remember the sound of Lisa’s laughter. In good times, she loved to laugh and share a joke or funny story. She was a loyal friend to humans and cats alike. As a young woman she enjoyed gymnastics and participated in many sports. Much of Lisa’s working years were spent in the restaurant industry, where she prided herself on providing excellent customer service and respect to all she encountered.
Lisa loved music, especially the songs of her youth in the 1980’s. Her Indigenous spirituality brought her peace in a sometimes too harsh world.
Lisa was pre-deceased by her grandparents Sarah Jane McGillivary and Frederick Young, Louis Martin and Annie Buck; her father Roderick Young; her beloved son Joshua Opikokew Young; and nephew Daniel Gaywish. She is survived by her mother Doris Young; sister Jennifer, brother Mark (Bridget), and brother Aaron; niece Sara, nephews Al, Trent, and Leland; grand-nephew Jaxon; Sara and Al’s mother Myrna, numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
