It is with great sadness, we announce the passing of Linda Joanne Mansoff on Sunday, May 23, 2021 at the age of 75 years.
Joanne was preceded in death by her father, Arthur (Art), her mother, Audrey, and her sister, Irene Coté. She is survived by her brother-in-law, Dennis Coté, a niece, nephews and several cousins.
Despite a lifelong struggle with mental illness, Joanne lived an independent life with dignity and pride. Trained in science, Joanne supported herself for several decades by delivering newspapers in Dauphin. She was proud of this work, as she respected the reporting of current events and believed her clients knew her as dependable; they would always get their paper in good time, no matter the weather.
Joanne had a life-long passion for music, playing the piano, organ, trumpet and flute all at a young age. Later in life, she was the organist for St. Paul’s Anglican Church and subsequently the keyboardist for Trinity Lutheran Church. It was at Trinity Lutheran, where, as her life became more difficult, she found a piece of home with the supportive congregation.
Joanne’s family, although scattered in different cities and provinces, remained important to her throughout her life. Her niece and nephews can well remember a card or short note from Joanne in which she reported on not only her own activities but those of other family members as well. (And there was always a weather report, complete with the effects on the crops).
Joanne was a kind and generous person who did her best to make the world a better place. For that, she is honoured, loved, and deeply missed.
Finally, Joanne’s family would like to thank Pastor Howard Burnie (Trinity Lutheran Church) for his long-time support and compassionate care, and Dr. Mathison and the staff at the Dauphin Personal Care Home for attending to Joanne with such kindness in her final years.
Due to Covid-19 gathering restrictions, cremation has taken place and no formal services will be held at this time.
