It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Levi Lucien Pinette. He was a husband, father, Pépère, Grandpa, brother, uncle.
Levi passed away on April 24, 2025 at the Ste Rose hospital at the age of 84 years.
Born April 1, 1941, Levi grew up on the farm in Ste Amelie, the third son of a large family.
Levi started working at a very young age, around 13 years old, working for farmers in the area.
He got his drivers license early at 15 years old by giving the wrong birthdate and then had his birthdate changed back on his license 50 years later so his license matched his birth certificate.
He headed out on his own and worked in Deloraine for various farmers
He came back to the Ste Rose area and worked on the Ste Rose church and later worked at Curly’s
Levi met the love of his life at Lion’s Café in their teens and they later got married on October 22, 1960. Over the years, they welcomed four boys and one girl.
He worked at the Ste Rose Creamery as the butter maker and was there for 10 years. As kids, those were the ice cream days…
He wanted to become an electrician so achieved his GED and went to Red River College. He worked with various electricians in the Ste Rose area as an apprentice and obtained his Journeyman Electrician’s license.
Levi then started Pinette and Son’s Electric and worked for many years in the Ste Rose and surrounding area. During this time, he was involved with the Kinsmen Club, Volunteer Fire Department and the Ste Rose Snowdrifters snowmobile club.
Having to leave Ste Rose, as the economy was changing, Levi along with his family moved to Flin Flon and worked for the Hudson’s Bay Mining & Smelting Company. After a couple of years and experiencing an injury at the smelter, they moved to Christensen beach building a home overlooking Dauphin Lake. This was Levi’s happy place, where for 30 years, great friendships were made, memorable family gatherings took place creating so many wonderful experiences, laughter and cherished memories! Everyone loved going to Mémère and Pépère’s. During his time there he golfed, hunted, fished, snowmobiled, boated and made the best smoked fish, jerky and barbecued steak!
As he shifted into semiretirement, he filled his days with selling and servicing Electrolux vacuums. This kept him busy until deciding to fully retire and leave the lake to move back to Ste Rose. This was not an easy decision! After being in Ste Rose for several years, Levi’s physical condition began to decline, having to move into the Dr. Gendreau Personal Care Home where he spent his remaining years being well cared for.
He took great pride in his family and loved his wife, kids and especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He loved life and was the life of the party and was always willing to teach his kids everything he could, good or bad.
Levi was predeceased by his parents Andre Pinette and Marie(Coss), his daughter in law Natalie, his siblings Marie, Larry, Gilbert, Annette, Eugene, Rose, Yvette.
Levi will be deeply missed by his loving wife Annette of 64 years, his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren
