Leslie Shiner Obituary

It is with great sadness that Carrie and Craig along with their mother, Ramona said goodbye to their father, Leslie Shiner on March 24th, 2024, at the Health Sciences Center, Winnipeg, at the age of 67.
Leslie was born to Harold and Millie Shiner on October 15, 1956, and grew up on the Shiner Family Farm, 4 miles from Bield, MB.  When he was 16, he left the family farm to work, and had been in many places across western Canada before he was tragically hurt in 1982, which drastically changed his life.
He loved the Bield area, and lived in Roblin his whole life. Despite not being able to work, he enjoyed playing dice with his mom on his nightly walks, going for coffee with the crew, and as of late, playing checkers on Sunday nights with Craig.
The best parts of his life were his marriage to Ramona, and their children Carrie and Craig.  Carrie became a Psychiatric Nurse, is married to Tucker and they have 2 sons Dillan & Lochlan- living in Minnedosa; and Craig lives with the love of his life Rebecca, and has established his own Scrap Metal Company in Roblin.  He has also followed in many of the Shiner’s footsteps, and also enjoys working in the bush.
Leslie is pre-deceased by his parents Harold and Millie Shiner, his brother Raymond and sister-in-law Sandra, and his father-in-law Raymond.  He is survived by his ex-wife, Ramona Shiner, his daughter Carrie (Tucker) McCallum and grandsons Dillan & Lochlan, and son Craig (Rebecca) Shiner; His Sister Judith Donaldson, Brother David Shiner, and Sister Karen Delong.  He has many nephews (Chester, Morris, Randy, Glen, Tim, Cory, Scott, Steven) and nieces (Amanda, Jennifer, Chantelle) who he held a special place for at all times.

Story telling - the act of
“sharing stories, improvisation, embellishment”
Strength, Great feat, Immortal.
A Heart made of Gold, Infectious Laugh,
Jokester, Slap-you-on-the-knee to make you Smile.
Immeasurable Pain, Sometimes Life Unfair.
Fighter, It was all he could do.
But bring you together, tell you a story or two,
A tall-tale for certain, at least a smile out of you.
One last Drive, Bield - like Rome -
All Roads lead to Home.

Memorial Service was held on Friday, March 29, 2024 at 2:00 pm from Bield Hall in Bield, MB with Pastor Heath Butler officiating.  Interment will follow in Bield Cemetery at a later date.
