On August 5, 2025, heaven gained another angel. At the young age of 50, Leslie passed away, with her loving husband, devoted mother and immediate family surrounding her.
With trembling hearts and disbelief, our family tries to understand how such a beautiful soul will no longer be present in their circle of love.
Leslie was the second daughter born to Ron and Evelyn (Blackshaw) Oversby on August 9, 1974, at the Ste. Rose General Hospital. How their lives were enriched that day.
Leslie attended elementary school in Ochre River and graduated high school at the DRCSS in 1992. At such an early age, Leslie started working home care, travelling to local farms and community members to assist families with their activities of daily living and medical issues. Leslie definitely had a gift connecting with people during times of need and made many friends along the way. Clients appreciated her gentle nature and how she was so dependable and responsible.
Not long after, she met the love of her life, Richard Jones, and they started dating in the fall of 1997. They created a home on an acreage a few miles west of Ochre. On a blizzarding morning of December 15th, 2000, they had their daughter, Nicole Riana. Leslie and Richard tied the knot on August 2, 2003, at the Makinak hall. On December 6th of that same year, they welcomed their baby boy, Braedan William.
While continuously caring of her family, Leslie changed employment to join the staff at the Dr. Gendreau Personal Care Home in 2005 and took a position as a dietary aide. She poured her heart and soul into this workplace and finished her career as the Dietary Supervisor.
Leslie was a fun-loving person who was always up for adventure. She loved to have fun and was really good at embracing moments. She could use humour to make light of difficult situations and shared many great laughs with people. She loved to listen to music and dance freely.
In her younger days, she enjoyed cross-stitching, crafts, the outdoors, cooking, and baking. She continued most of these hobbies later in life, along with taking such pride in her garden and flowers. To take a break from the daily grind, Leslie’s happy place was by the water. Whether it be Rainbow Beach, Clear Lake, or Skane’s crossing– if she had her feet in the water and sun on her face, she was happy.
Leslie will be remembered for her resilience and how protective she was. She was a rock to those that mattered the most, no matter what she faced – if you needed a shoulder to cry on, she was always there.
Left to mourn her passing and special memories is her husband and best friend, Richard Jones, her beautiful daughter, Nicole Wheatland and husband Nathan; her handsome son, Braedan Jones; Mother, Evelyn Oversby, brother-in-law, Craig Soper, nephews, Garrett Soper and Emmett Soper, great-nephew, Elijah and great-niece Gracie; Sister, Mandy (Duane) Sweetman, nephews, Declan and Tyron Sweetman, Brother, Jesse (Char-Lee) Oversby, nieces and nephews, Elodie, Weston, Laney and Denton; Mother-in-law, Shirley Jones, Sisters-in-law, Tracey (Peter) Heffer, Shelly Giesbrecht, niece Vicki (Dustin) McLaughlin and great-nephew, Griffin, Cathy (Duane) Finch, Grandmother Ruth Oversby, numerous Aunts and Uncles, cousins and friends.
