Larry Gerald Pachkowski

Larry Gerald Pachkowski of Gilbert Plains, MB, and formerly of the Rhodes District (RM of Ethelbert), passed away on May 18, 2023, at the Brandon Hospital, at the age of 68.
Larry was born on December 22, 1954 to Anne and Fred Pachkowski in Dauphin, MB. He was the youngest of four children, and grew up on the farm in Rhodes. He attended Rhodes School and then later was bused to Ethelbert for high school. After graduating, Larry started working for MB Hydro. Through the years he wanted to be closer to home as his children were important to him, so he resigned from Hydro. He went on to take over the family farm, where he raised cattle with his father. Larry also spent countless hours cutting down trees, which would later be put through the sawmill.
Larry was friendly, kind, and always made time to stop and chat with people he knew. He spent many years as a member of the Lions club. He drove school bus for 20+ years in the Duck Mountain and Mountainview School Divisions, at which time he was also involved with CUPE, serving as Secretary for many years. When he was younger, he enjoyed curling and spent many evenings and weekends at the local curling rink. Larry was an avid sports fans, cheering for the Winnipeg Blue Bombers and the Toronto Maple Leafs. He enjoyed being outdoors, especially on his farm, in his garden, and in the nearby Duck Mountains.
Larry and his wife Ruth loved to travel, with Vancouver and Hawaii being two of their favorite vacation spots. They lived on the farm in Rhodes until 2021, when they moved to Gilbert Plains. 
Larry was predeceased by his parents, Anne and Fred Pachkowski. He is survived and deeply missed by his loving wife Ruth; his daughter Tamara (Moses) Baer; his son Trent Pachkowski; grandchildren Caleb, Levi, Meah Baer; siblings Ted (Shirley) Pachkowski, Gloria (Ron Heppner) Joliet, Jerry (Margaret) Pachkowski; mother of his children, Iris; as well as many nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life in Larry’s memory was held on Saturday June 3rd, 2023 at 4:00 pm at the Sneath Strilchuk Family Care Center in Dauphin, MB.
Interment followed in Rhodes Ukrainian Catholic Cemetery in Ethelbert, MB.
